Thoreau -v- Christ way

“I have learned this, at last, by my experiment that if one advances confidently in the direction of their dreams and endeavors to live the life they imagined, they will meet with success unexpected,” Henry David Thoreau.

No doubt the aforementioned worked well for Thoreau and many others, and may it work well for everyone who chooses such a path.

However, here’s a more sure way because when God is involved by ones invocation of Him. Then many pitfalls and false avenues can be avoided.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared that we should walk in them. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. (cp. Ephesians 2:10 and Ephesians 3:20).

Like the triune God our Creator, we also are a threesome, body, soul and spirit. It is through our bodies that God gives us life, our soul is our conscience, and its through our spirit that we are connected to God.

But the soul, and spirit are dormant, as are our bodies compared to what the body will be like once we receive our glorified bodies. That will occur in the hereafter. The limitations are because of the choices Eve and Adam made.

So for now, we’ll have to function on a very limited capability. It’s all tied together in those Ephesians citations. But it’s not automatic because one must function within the Christ family. Not there yet, then follow the prompts in, Romans 10:9-10. This is not about church membership. Modern day Christendom is the problem not the solution for the most part.

It’s all about activating the soul and spirit with our bodies. Accomplished when Christ makes alive our spirit, so that God may instill in us wisdom and revelation. Then our eyes are opened with enlightenment, so that we know what is the hope of our purpose. And then, discovering the hope of our calling. It’s all tied together through His inheritance in us. Henceforth, He calls us saints. (cp. Ephesians 1:17-18).

The foregoing has nothing to do with intellectualism but everything to do with spirituality. It’s a way few travel because doers do it the Thoreau way. But it has its limitations caused by human frailty. The Christ way eliminates human frailties, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. It’s accomplished through the well spiritually conditioned saints.

Aftermath of Easter

If one can get past the secularization of Easter, which should be celebrated as Resurrection Sunday. Because it is the greatest transformable experience available to humanity.

Many people are hurting from all kinds of emotional and physical assaults upon them. And there are many con artists out there, all to willing to offer bogus fixes. Unfortunately, the church is not necessarily exempt from such bogus fixes. Though in fairness some offer real solutions. The problem is finding such a church.

In reality the Christ remedy is available from the comfort of your home. No human intermediary is necessary. It starts with examining the following, and applying those words verbally to yourself. If necessary, meditate upon each of those words, and carefully apply them.

The process is as follows, “And if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raise Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made is made unto salvation.” (cp. Romans 10:9-10).

It’s a supernatural transformation. Recorded as such, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but can not  tell where it comes and where it goes. So is everyone, who is born of the Spirit.” (cp. John 3:8).

Over time such an experience unfolds in some instantaneously as perhaps magical. It’s not, it’s spiritual growth. Do you know a child who could calculate an algebraic formula? So, here’s the spiritual formula. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they have become new creations. Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new!” (cp. 2 Corinthians 5:17).

Over the years the following declarations have become my most appreciative scriptures. I can’t explain why. There’s something so very comfortable about them. “Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?

Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death. That just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we should walk in the newness of life.

For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be in the likeness of His resurrection.

Knowing this, that our old personage was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.

For they, who have died are free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe we shall also live with Him. Knowing that Christ having been raised from the dead dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God.” (cp. Romans 6:3-10).

the down side of the upside

A soldier had a horse. Which as long, as he was at the wars, shared all his dangers and adventures and was fed barley. But when the war was over it was made to work like a slave. Carrying heavy loads while being poorly fed.

War was declared again; and when the trumpets sounded the master bridled his horse, armed himself and mounted. But the horse had no strength, and stumbled at every step. “You had better go and join an infantry regiment, ” it said to him, “For I am not worth being called a horse, anymore. You have turned me into a donkey, and how do you plan to change me back to being a horse?”

Avoiding the aforementioned because it works on both sides of the fence. In times of trouble, and when thing are going, oh so well. Then suddenly trouble arrives, again. “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do so.” See Proverbs 3:27. Consider it the principled life.
