interacting with the cosmos pt 24

Here we are in seventeenth chapter of a discussion from the book tagged as wisdom. The Biblical of Job is somewhat mysterious, because we do not know its author. It found its way as a significant inclusion of canonical literature through the providence of God Almighty. It’s filled with the ways earthlings are forced to interact with the universal cosmos.

Job opens this discussion by saying, “My spirit is consumed, and I have lived the number of days given to me, and I am ready for the grave.”

The phrase, “I have lived the number of days given to me.” It’s taken from these truths. “People born of a women find that their days are full of troubles. They come forth as a flower and fades away like a shadow that does not continue. (cp. Job 14:1-2).

“Since their days are determined, the number of their months are with You; You have appointed their limits, so that they cannot pass them.” (cp. Job 14:5).

My days expired in the year of our Lord, 2015. But God is sovereign far beyond human comprehension, extending my days. Shocking the medical staff attending to my care. As they gave me a zero percent chance of survival. That information was shared with me at time of discharge. So if, He can extend life, He can also shorten life. As He did, concerning my younger brother at the same age, as my near death experience.

One of us? Blessings! If not, now is a good time to become one of us through Christ Jesus. Follow the prompts found in Romans 10:9-10. The notice the prompts found in verses 11-13, all of which creates the universality so many seek.

This discussion will focus on the spiritual aspects of those days seen through Job chapter seventeen. But with this strategic diversion through prayer, “Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (cp. Psalms 90:12).

One last thought before moving to Job 17. I struggled unable to determine how to approach this discussion. At 02:00 hundred hours the answer arrived through a night vision. (cp. Job 33:14-17). Causing me to leap out of bed and start writing.

The silent working of Divine Providence as poured out to us through Job. “Now¬† give a pledge. Be collateral for me with Yourself.” For us it happened on the Cross. “Insomuch than, as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him, who had the power of death, that is the devil.” (cp Hebrews 2:14).

Job ponders, “Who is there, who will shake hands with me? No one because You have hidden their hearts from understanding. Therefore, you will not exalt them!” (Reference to the three pompous religiousness, who saw everything but new nothing). They who wrongly denounce their friends for personal stature, will even see their children fall.”

“For reasons beyond my understanding, He has made me, a once respected person, an insult among the people. I am so disrespected that they spit in my face. But all is not lost, because the righteous through God are astonished over what’s happening to me. They have risen up against all such hypocrites. It’s the way the Creator works. People like me with clean hands become stronger and stronger. Folks please continue, for their isn’t a wise person among you.”

Finally Job laments. “My better days are an experience of the past. I have said to corruption, You are my father where is my hope? Shall it go down with me to the gates of Sheol, (Hell) or shall we just rest together in the dust?”

This discussion was developed from, Job 17:1-16, by critical analytical interpretation. Other scriptures used where for clarification purposes.
