merry go round of life pt 20

Job collects his equilibrium after a seemingly endless attack upon his character both intellectually and spiritually. But not before he archers, what he considered to be a more than satisfactory rebuttal. Even willing to once again move in the direction renewed friendships. But, it’s conditional upon mutual agreed terms. Summary of yesterdays discussion.

Now Job reflects upon life itself and muses over the following. “What is man, who is born of a woman? It’s like a few days which is filled with troubles. He grows up like a flower, and is cut down. He’s like a shadow that doesn’t continue.

Do You open Your eyes on such a one, and bring them into judgement with Yourself? After all who can bring a clean thing, out of something unclean? No one!

Since his days are determined and the number of his months are with You. You have appointed his limits, so that he cannot exceed them. (Think about that the timing of your death is predetermined).

There is hope for a tree, if it is cut down that it will sprout again from the ground, that its tender branches will also once again appear. It will do so, as long as it can scent the water it will sprout back to life.

But a man dies and is laid low. Yes, man gives up his spirit and is no more. So a man lies and doesn’t mimic the tree. You can count on that until the heavens are no more. Man will not be roused out of his sleep. Oh that You would hide me in hell, and keep me as a secret until your wrath has passed. Then appoint me a set time to be remembered.

Though I wonder, when a man dies, will he live again? If that should occur, then I’ll wait for my release to come. You will call, and I will answer. Because you have a desired future for the works of your hands.

But now, You count my steps, and know all about my sins. My disobedience is sealed up in a bag. There is no possible way for me to escape my iniquities.

Oh God! As the mountain falling comes to nothing, The rock is removed out of its place, the waters wear the stones. Its torrents wash away the ground of the earth. So you destroy the hope of man. You forever prevail against him, and he departs. You change his face, and send him away.

His children come to honor him, but he doesn’t know it. They are saddened, but he doesn’t perceive it of them. But the flesh on his body has pain, and his soul within him mourns.

This discussion was developed from Job 14:1-22, by critical analytical interpretation.
