Mothers Elizabeth and Mary

Two women, two mother’s, who changed the destiny of the world. With Elizabeth giving birth to a son. And it was decided that the boy would be named after his father, Zacharias. But Elizabeth objected, and said, we shall call his name, John. And his father agreed, and so it was. (cp. Luke 1:59-63).

Destinies history then and now. A worthy read and study. (cp. Luke 1: 67-79).

And the child grew up and became strong in determination. And was in the deserts till the day of his ministerial maturity to address Israel. (cp.Luke 1:80). Every mother’s wish!! The successful maturity from the fruit of their womb, whatever gender it might be. Because much can be learned about parenting. When mother’s instill purpose, and loyalty in their children. The family and the world will be better. Then indeed, blessed is the fruit of your womb and blessed are you among women. Because women set the destiny, for the family, and the world. Enjoy your day, it is indeed your day.

This grown child, John, is the one we call the Baptist. Who was seen encouraging baptism as an indication of sins forgiven. (cp. Luke 3:3). John found his purpose through his mother nourishing guidance. God teaches His truths many ways. But no greater way, than through willing mothers.

In the course of time Divine Providence expressed as the Word of God directed John to his ultimate purpose. Found in a scroll written by Isaiah which read, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness. Prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight. And make the rough ways smooth; so all people can see the salvation of God.” (cp Luke 2:4-6). And that represents the finality for the son born of Elizabeth. Which is the duty of all God’s children, not just, John the Baptist during his tenure but ours now.

Can you imagine what it would be like to be called the mother of God? Well that was to be Mary’s experience. God dispatched his angel, Gabriel, to Nazareth. And the angel said to Mary, “Rejoice highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (cp. Luke 1:26-28).

And now, what we call, The Annunciation, “Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He shall be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest, and the LORD GOD will give Him the throne of His father David. And He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom shall have no end,” (cp. Luke 1:30-33).

It’s a very detailed future occurrence. (cp. 1 Corinthians 15:24-58). Verses 33-34, is most strategic as God depends on mothers to awaken people to the cause of Christ through their sons and daughters.

Later Mary made a trip to visit her relative Elizabeth. When Elizabeth greeted Mary there was instant, and mutual recognition, where each woman knew that the other would be a woman of great importance. That encounter can be experienced. (cp. Luke 1:39-45). All mother’s are women of great importance.

And Elizabeth said, to Mary, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” (cp. Luke 1:42). And Mary responded with a prayer that we call, Mary’s magnificat prayer, which means my soul magnifies.

And Mary said, “My spirit rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant. Behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.

And His mercy is on those who fear Him, from generation to generation. He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has put down the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things. And the rich, He has sent away empty.” (cp. Luke 1:46-53).

History from yesterday and still applicable two centuries later. Demonstrating the influence of motherhood. It’s your day indeed because as mother’s go, so goes the destiny of humanity.

And so in closing blessed are the mothers, who magnify the Lord and whose spirit is in God their Savior. And instill those truths in their children, for indeed, all generations shall call you blessed. Because He has, or will do great things through you. And He will be mercy full to you, and to your family for generations to come. Just a few comments from Mary’s magnificat prayer.

On this mothers day, blessed are the mothers because like Elizabeth and Mary, you establish the destinations of families globally.

Understanding global calamity: Where there is glory, there is shame. The shame of some mothers is recorded starting with Luke 1:51b-53. With Mary telling us that He has scattered the proud, who imagine that the fruit of their womb can prosper without the helpful arm of the Savior. And He has put down the mighty from their thrones, whether it’s among families or nations.

So the question this Mothers Day is where are the Mother’s of America taking the nation. Because according to God, Blessed are Women among His creation. And, as women go, so goes the nation. Great responsibility with even greater blessings.

Behind every great man was, and is, and will be a greater woman.

All the aforementioned is exemplified when mother’s are apart of His divine family. One of His? Blessings! And if not following the prompts found in Romans 10:9-10. The notice verses 11-13, all of which creates the universality so many seek. And if our paths don’t cross in this world, they will in the next.
