It’s not that Job hasn’t heard enough nonsense from two of his friends, now a third steps forward to berate Job. Chastising him for being insensitive to the workings of the Almighty. Asking, “Shouldn’t your many empty words be answered? How else do you expect to find redemption through His justice?
Your boasting concerning your innocence, does it not mock you, and shouldn’t it make you ashamed? Instead you insist, “I am innocent, and therefore, I am not guilty of any injustices against You.”
Zophar laments, But oh! “That God would speak, and show you the secrets of His wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Understand that God exacts from you far less than your sins deserve. Job, can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than hell itself. It measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea. Really, what do you really know, Job? That makes you think that you can oppose Him?
You can’t Job because He understands false men like you! Job, you need to change your attitude and seek Him. Set aside all of your unrighteousness that’s within you.
Than you will be able lift up your eyes heavenward without fear. You will forget your misery. You’ll remember them like waters that have passed away. Than your life will be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it will be as morning.
Job, you will feel secure, because there is hope! Yes, you will search, and you will find rest and safety. Also Job, you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid. Yes Job, many will court your favor.
Yes, the eyes of the wicked will fail. But they will have no way to flee. Their hope will occur when they die.
Discussion was developed from, Job 11:1-20, by critical analytical interpretation.
Job is an interesting book because it highlights how humanity interacts among themselves. All that requires a thoughtful read, because even those who claim godly insights screw up with their advice to Job.
Another matter to focus upon is that Job is quite innocent as he claims. Job happened to be a pawn used by God to show what faith looks like. Allowing Satan attack him to the degree that he’d denounce and turn against his God. It failed!
Job being human hasn’t handled all these matters very well. He curses the day that he was born. And blames, God for allowing his problems. Wishes for death to capture him, and wheel him of to the graveyard. Where darkness prevails even when there is light.
That was a summary of the sixteen previous discussions, starting, 22 April 21. Read them carefully and determine how they might fit into your life. Job is a book about how the cosmos, and all that’s therein interacts with each other. God is the supreme being, who interacts with all the other players, including Satan. One way or another every human life has to contend with all of this.
