The book of Job is classified as a book of wisdom. And as such contains subject matter as how to gain wisdom. It’s tagged as having instructional insights as how to gain that wisdom. Which of course comes through scoldings. All of which are designed to be avenues for self correcting insights. And designed to help God’s constituents to live lives acceptable to Him, thus avoiding His punishing hand. (cp. 2 Timothy 3:16).
In previous discussions it was shown that Satan roams the earth seeking whom he can destroy. (cp. 1 Peter 5:8). While also having access to converse with God, in the heavenly places. It was while there that God tells Satan that there is no one earth like Job, righteous and living a God honoring life style.
Satan takes issue with such an assertion, and says nonsense! “Remove your protective apparatus, and he’ll turn against you and will curse you!”
So Satan is given permission to do to Job as he pleases, but with one exception, do not kill him. And with that Satan did, as readers know from previous discussions. To the point that Job wishes himself dead, and asks of God to be left alone.
Eliphaz, one his friends takes Job to task, and tells him that he brought those troubles upon himself. Because God is righteous and only punishes the guilty. Job tries defending himself, but only ends up defeated and depressed.
And now another friend, Bildad, will level his fault finding attack against Job. Asking Job, “How long will you continue with such absurdities? They are nothing more than the sound of a strong wind!”
Does God delay judgement, and would the Almighty delay justice? And then, insinuating that the death of his children who died young, and unexpectedly was because that had sinned. Yes! That’s why they died before their time. His judgement and justice can at times can be instantaneous and without warning.
O pleads Bildad, “If you would earnestly seek God, and make confession to the Almighty with sincerity, surely He would respond.” And make you prospers once again, though at the start, your move forward will be slow. But finally at the end your wealth will be abundant.
Then Bildad encourages Job to consider their forefather’s. Who reasoned that its like we were born yesterday, and because of our infancy, we know nothing!
Counseling Job, “Behold, God will not cast away the blameless, nor will He uphold evildoers. He will yet fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with rejoicing.
Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and dwelling place of the wicked will come to nothing.
The following scripture’s were used to develop this discussion, Job 8:1-10; 20-22, and other scriptures for clarification. The Job scriptures by analytical interpretation.
Of course Bildad sees all that occurring, if, and when, Job repents, and again finds favor with the Almighty. Good advice then, and now, so if you are not apart of the Almighty’s family? Become one of His by following the prompts found in Romans 10:9-10. And then notice verses 11-13, all of which creates the universality so many seek. And if our paths don’t cross in this age, they will in the next.
