it went around now it is coming back pt 12

Job remained silent as Zliphaz launches his diatribe that people ultimately get what they deserve. No doubt insinuating that Job got what he deserved, as everything important to him was decimated.

Zliphaz concludes, that if he himself were ever to experienced the hell Job had endured. He’d seek God, and before God, he would present his cause. Because God does great things, whose finality is beyond being in error. So marvelous are His interventions that they are beyond number.

Suggesting to Job, that afflictions do not arise from the dust of the ground, nor suddenly spring forth from out of the earth. No, afflictions arise upon people who deserve them. It’s natures way, just as sparks fly upward.

Job bearing a sense of disappointment feeling that his friend had betrayed him. So Job tries to make things right between them. By offering this response to Eliphaz, hoping that he’ll see his calamities from a different perspective.

Oh, that my grief were fully weighed, and my calamities laid upon the scales! For they would be heavier than the combined sands of the seas.

Those words may sound somewhat foolhardy. If so it’s only because the arrows of the Almighty are within me. My spirit drinks in their poison, and the terror of God is arrayed against me.

Oh, that I might have my request, that God would grant me the thing that I long for! That it would please God to crush me, that He would free His hand and cut me off. Then I would have comfort, though in anguish, nevertheless, I would feel extreme happiness.

Eliphaz, I have suffered unbearable tragedies. Should not my friend show me some sympathy? Even though I have forsaken any fear of the Almighty! (cp. Job 6:2-14).

Through out my multiple life threatening agonies did I ask you for help, offer you money to drive away my enemies?

Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; cause me to understand wherein I have erred? (cp. Job 6:22-24).

Job after satisfying himself that he had made right Eliphaz’s rash judgement over his tragic misfortunes, now turns to offer a rebuttal to his friend.

How forceful are the right words! But, what does your criticism prove? Do you intend to counter what I have said, the speeches of a distraught friend, which are as fleeting wind?

Yes, you overwhelmed a friend, who lost all of ten of his children, as a result of a horrific wind storm while they were having dinner together. And by so doing, you betrayed your friend. Now therefore, look at me, for I would never lie!

Yield now, let the matter be settled between us. Yes! Concede that my righteousness still stands! Has there been an injustice issued from my tongue? My taste cannot pick out any thing morally offensive! (cp Job 6:25-30).

Who has not traveled the pathways of life where misunderstandings have not jeopardized friendships?

The discourse between Eliphaz, and Job might serve as a picturesque prelude, for all of us, who will someday findĀ  ourselves standing before Jesus. Giving a full account of ourselves. Of everything we have done during our lifetime, good or bad. (cp. Revelation 20:11-14).

Those of us made righteous through Jesus will find the bad as being non-existent because of His shed blood for the forgiveness of our sins. Not so for everyone. (Revelation 20:15).

Not one of us? Join our Christ family through the prompts found in Romans 10:9-10. Then notice verses 11-13, all of which gives us the universality so many seek. And if our lives do not cross in this world, they will in the next.
