A friend in need is a friend indeed, so one of Job’s friends offers helping hand. So Eliphas chimes in. Saying, “If one attempts a word with you, will become weary? But who can withhold himself from speaking? Surely you have instructed many, and you have strengthened weak hands. Your words have upheld those who were stumbling. You have strengthened feeble knees.
But now tragedy comes upon you, and you are weary; it touches you, and you are troubled.
Is not your your reverence for God Almighty your confidence? And the integrity of your faith your hope?Remember Job, who ever perished being innocent, or people of faith cut off?
Even as I have seen, those who plow iniquity, and sow trouble reap the same. By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of His anger they are consumed.
Nature Job should be your witness. The roaring of the Lion, the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions are broken. The old lion perishes for lack of prey, and the cubs of the lioness scattered.
Job is mute, and offers no response to his friends efforts to console him. For those who have been following these discussions, it is known that Job had every reason to be in a state of no hope. After all, Job lost his business empire, his employees where killed and his daughters and sons lost their lives as a result of horrendous storm.
But we also learned that Job had found favor with God because of his spiritual integrity. Satan challenged God saying it’s all because You protect him. So God said to Satan test Him. And Satan did, to know avail. Nevertheless his ordeals destroyed him emotionally to the point that he regretted his birth. Thus his friend attempts to console him.
Discussion was developed from an analytical interpretation of Job 4:1-11.
Job wasn’t the first person, nor the last to experience satanic tragedies which included this writer.
God is long suffering, and merciful toward people of faith.
This was applicable to Job, me, and many others, and will continue to reach into the future, until this age ends. “The steps of good people are ordered by the LORD. And He delights in their ways. Though they should fall, they will not be utterly destroyed. For the LORD will upholds them with His hands.” (cp. Psalms 37:23-24).
The Psalmist continues, “I have been young and now am old. Yet I have never see the righteous forsaken. nor his descendants begging for bread. He is ever merciful, and his descendants are blessed. (cp. Psalms 37:25-26). Amen!
