“Religion is and attempt to get control over the sensory world, in which we are placed, by means of a wish filled world, which we have developed inside us as a result of biological and psychological necessities.
But, it cannot achieve its end, because its doctrines carry with them the stamp of the times in which they originate, the ignorant childhood days of the human race. Its consultations deserve no trust! Experience teaches that the world is not a nursery.
Biblical commands to which religion seeks to lend its weight, requires some other foundation instead. For human society cannot do without them, and it is dangerous to link up obedience with religious belief.
All of the above amounts to another Freud tirade to discredit what the world needs most, which is a foundation well rooted in not religious but Christ doctrines anchored teachings. There’s a humongous difference!
As best as this writer can determine, Freud associated the Christian teachings only through the lens of the Mosaic law as found in the biblical scriptures of Genesis through Deuteronomy.
Which of course makes Freudian psychotherapy the villain of society. Because during his lifetime reaching us today, the Mosaic law is history, and the age of grace is standard bearer for individual and overall societal guidance.
During this age of grace, also referred to as the church age study should be directed fourteen books of the Bible. They were all written by the Apostle Paul. Starting with, The Acts of the Church through to Philemon. And Hebrews which may have been written, by Paul, but we aren’t certain. Hebrews is interesting because it discusses both the church age interests, as well as a review Old Testament doctrines.
That doesn’t mean that the rest of the Bible should be discarded. Much can be learned by studying them, and they are of great value, when it comes to understanding global history.
In Addition, the Old Testament provides lots of previous advice. Like the following, “They who are slow to anger are better than the mighty, and they who rule their spirit than he who takes a city.” (cp. Proverbs 16:32). It takes more than just reading such scriptures. Combine ones reading with prayer. Learn to pray the scriptures and make an effort to overcome what ever one is seeking to overcome.
Here are some scriptures this writer prays. “Bless the Lord O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His Holy name! Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not all of His benefits. Who has forgiven all my sins. Who has healed all my spiritual diseases, who has redeemed my life from destruction, who crowns me with living kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies my mouth with good things, so that my youth is renewed like that of the eagle.” (cp. Psalms 103:1-5). Tip: Memorize scriptures and personalize them.
However, Paul’s discussions are exactly what we, as individuals, need in order to find, and experience Christ pleasing lives during this current age. Which will also end, and another age will be ushered in.
When dealing with tirades from the worlds Freud’s, here’s what Paul said about them. “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us, who are saved, it is the power of God.” For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring down the understanding of the prudent.” (cp. 1 Corinthians 1:18-19).
“But the natural person does not receive the things of the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to them; nor can they known them, because they do not have spiritual insight. (cp, 1 Corinthians 2:14).
