David Henry Thoreau and reality

“The mass of people lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation. From the desperate city one goes into the desperate country to console oneself  with the bravery of minks and muskrats. All representing stereotyped but unconscious despair. Despair is concealed through various kinds of amusements. But it is not a characteristic of wisdom to do and live lives of feared desperation,” Henry David Thoreau.

Thoreau was a 19th century philosopher and transcendentalist. Wonder how Thoreau would react to our global pandemic, and American politics with the likes of trump and his allies like, Rep.Taylor Green of Georgia?

From Thoreau’s history it would appear he’d support the Biden pandemic relief package, as is, without compromise. The impeachment conviction  of Trump for deliberately mobilizing an over through of the United States government. And certainly the expulsion of, Rep. Green, from the House of Representatives.

Oh! By the way Thoreau’s opening commentary was meant to represent a ditty of the Republican mind set. Excuse making and fault finding and without any wisdom. It’s all a journey into no where, unless, We the People say, Enuf is Enuf of Republican despair.
