“A persons friends are more capable of working them harm than strangers, but their greatest danger lies in their own habits,” Aleister Crowley.
Compare and contrast the following with Crowley’s cynicism.
Whoever secretly slanders their friends, those I will destroy. The one, who is arrogant and conceited I will not tolerate. Psalms 101:5.
Make no friendships with an angry person, and with a hot tempered person. Lest you learn their ways, and set a snare for your soul. Proverbs 22:24-25.
A desired accomplishment is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil. They who walk with wise people will be wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm. Misfortune pursues sinners, but prosperity rewards the righteous. Proverbs 13:19-21.
Blessed is the person who walks not in the council of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scoffers, but their delight is in the ways of the LORD, and in His ways they meditates day and night. They shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in in it’s season, and whatsoever they do shall prosper. (cp. Psalms 1:1-3).
But the wicked are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the wocked shall stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. (cp. Psalms 1:4-6).
