American democracy in crisis mode

“Where you came from is gone, where you thought you were going to never was there, and where you are is no good, unless you can get away from it,” Flannery O’Connor.

We can all take O’Connors sentence with each of us weaving  different narratives about life’s realities. Especially her suggestion for a needed avenue around its realities.

Greater insights can be gained by reading her novel, “Wise Blood.” There she writes a fictional account about redemption, retribution and misleading churchman.

She wrote her novel in 1952 leaving this impression the more things change, the more they remain the same. From the perspective of many it’s all about misdirected religious influence. Whether it’s about redemption, retribution which have a way of wrapping themselves around politics.

Churchman, mostly a collection of Pentecostal religious zealots, who are in the business of empire building. And usually aligned  with the likes of Donald J. Trump. They’ve been around for a while, and have been influential in presidential elections dating back to at least the Reagan presidency. They influence millions who believe they speak for God, so they must vote for the presidential candidate they back. Their vote propelled Trump into the Peoples House in 2016 and they are a threat to it again in 2020!

They are all very dangerous because they ultimate goal is merge their religion as one with the state. They falsely think Trump is their ally. Trump is using them for political purposes. Trump will eventually turn on them, when he no longer needs them. That Trump’s history! Trump’s apparent goal is create a dictatorial government. Fashioned much like what exists in places like China, Iran, North Korea and Russia.
