marriage making it work

“It takes three to make love, not two! You, your spouse and God. Without God people only succeed in bringing out the worst in each other. Lovers who have nothing else to do but to love each other Soon find there is nothing else. Without a central loyalty life is unfinished,” Fulton J. Sheen.

Marriage is a complicated mystery which is impossible for we humans to fully understand. Because it is written, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one.” (cp. Ephesians 5:29). All the intellectual reasoning can’t explain such a human occurrence. It has to be accepted by faith. Meaning, if God said it, than it is so.

The Bible is God’s declarations concerning our complex association as a part of His creation. So when it comes to marriage, we have to search for biblical hints as to how to make marriage work. Because the scriptures themselves are mysterious to human reasoning. Their truths can only be experienced, then they become believable.

Here are some examples. Be lovingly affectionate to each another. In honor giving preference to one another. (cp. Romans 12:10 by exegesis).

From the oneness perspective: Husbands ought to love their own wives, as their own bodies. He who loves his wife his wife loves himself. (cp. Ephesians 5:28). Applying those two principles will make the marriage flourish. And as, Sheen hinted without it the central loyalty of life is unfinished.

It all boils down to these central principles. Trust in the LORD with your whole heart, and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. (cp. Proverbs 3:5-6).

All of us have to get beyond human reasoning by surrendering to the supernatural that is within all of us, when we are secure in Christ. If you can identify with, Romans 6:3-10, all will be will with all of ones comings and goings. It’s that elderly person within each of us that is the problem and must be crucified.
