Escaping Nietzsche

“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is to high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself,” Fredrich Wilhelm Nietzsche.

People! Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes themselves an enemy of God. (cp. James 4:4). What profit has a person from all their labor in which they toil under the sun. One generation passes away, and another comes. (cp. Ecclesiastes 1:3-4a). And tribalism keeps repeating itself with all of its antagonistic consequences.

The James way is the best way to avoid the Nietzsche and Solomon diatribes. Because they dictate that we are forever captives of tribalism. However, Nietzsche touched upon what everyone wants which is the freedom of owning ones self.

However it can only occur mystically. Meaning there is no human explanation. The ability to own ones self is a process accomplished through the shed blood Jesus on the cross. (cp. Colossians 1:20).

After that it’s a three step process. First, “Likewise the Spirit also helps with our weaknesses. For we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with expressions that can’t be humanly understood.” Secondly, “Now He who searches the heart knows the mind of the Spirit because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Thirdly, And we know that all things work together for the good, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (cp. Romans 8:26-28).

Life is complex and tribalism doesn’t want anyone to experience the freedom we have in and through Jesus. So this mystical promise is yours and mine. “The steps of good people are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in their ways. Though they should fall they will not be utterly destroyed. For the LORD upholds them with His hand,” cp. Psalms 37:23-24).

Makes this a way of life and you’ll indeed own yourself. “I will walk in liberty, for I seek your precepts.”That’s the key! (cp Psalm 119:45). Remember Jesus Himself said, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me. Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives. And recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed. To proclaim the acceptable day of the LORD.” (cp. Luke 4:18-19).

How much of a threat is all this to the master of tribalism, who doesn’t want anyone to own themselves because he craves their captivity. “Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, ‘All this authority will I give You, and their glory; for all this has been delivered to me, and I can give it to whomever I wish. Therefore if You will worship before me, all this will be Yours.'” Jesus answered and said, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only shall you serve.” (cp. Luke 4:5-8).
