Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr and Rep John Lewis: Greatness walks across the world stage at the bequest of Divine Providence. Each in their own way knew this, “You formed my inward parts, you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well.” (cp. Psalms 139:13-14}.
And they stepped upon His stage, and made the impossible possible. And at His bequest, they made their exit.
And all who follow, will share in the same whether aware of it or not.
So what happens, when we mortals exit this sphere of existence? Like the one who formed us in our mother’s womb and knitted us together, our souls were fully conscience of His complex and wonderful works. For we are triune beings like our Creator. Upon death the dust will return to the earth as it was. And the spirit will return to Go who gave it. (cp. Ecclesiastes 12:7).
But the soul where does it go? To Hades! It’s a vast reservoir for the of what remains of ones once triune self.
Jesus Himself gives this account about that reservoir. It a huge place because it contains the souls of all people since creation who have died. It is a place divided into two different sections one for the righteous and unrighteous. They are cognizant of each other. Because Jesus shares a dialogue between the two men. It’s clear one is miserable and begs for help. But none is available, while the other is comfortable. (cp. Luke 16:19-31).
This future event will some day determine everyone’s future there. It’s recorded as such. Then I saw a great white throne, and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heavens fled away. And, there was found no place for them.
And I saw the dead, the small and great, standing before God. And the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in that book.
The sea gave up the dead, who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to their works.
Then death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire.” (cp. Revelation 20:11-15).
So where does that leave the souls of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther, Jr and John Lewis? In that the three have died. We know that their Spirits are with God and their bodies are returning to dust. And souls are in Hades. What is not known by we mortals, is what side of that gulf in Hades is their residence?
If any one of them, and hopefully all three were able to die knowing the following. And if it’s in the affirmative their souls reside in Hades in comfort. Paul asked, Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus where were baptized into His death?
Therefore we were baptized into death, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we also should walk in the newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection. (cp, Romans 6:3-5).
So when, all of humanity is called to give an account of themselves, as discussed above. With their names written in the Book of life, they like we, shall escape the second death.
