Modern day veterans, like their predecessors deserve our respect. Because deep in their souls, was and is, embedded an unique American substance which is to destroy tyranny and preserve liberty. The how, and why of that uniqueness is what follows.
An infant, the United States, compared to Europe when wars ravaged Europe during two of its wars. But the contribution of the United States was enormous in both wars. World War 1, most likely would have lasted longer without U.S. involvement. And the final outcome for World War 2 most likely would have been different also.
Here’s the history of the world’s greatest and most formidable empire. An aging man near death summoned his sons to his death bed. And Jacob, did so to teach them a vital history lesson. One of his sons, Joseph, brought Jacob’s grandsons with him, Manasseh and Ephraim. And Jacob made a pronouncement that would forever change world geography and global politics. Of Manasseh he said, “… I know my son, I know, he also shall become a people, and he shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.”
So by divine unction, working through him ceremonially, a future history was created that could not be altered, by the best of generals or admirals no matter how potent their empires were. By placing his hands on their heads and uttering these words, “May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh.” From that blessing would come Great Britain and her Commonwealth of Nations. Derived from a simple statement, that the younger brother, Ephraim would become a multitude of nations. Great Britain stellar in battle on the high seas or land adopted as one of her national symbols the lion. Signifying to the community of nations speed, bravery and strength.
But the powerful lion became oppressive by persecuting the children of Ephraim who sensed their grandfathers union with divine providence within them. They wanted that and wanted to express it, but the throne said no.
So the lion took to the air with wings to lift itself. Symbolizing what divine providence had sanctioned let no man disturb. While asleep, a man dreamt what he called a night vision. And said this, “I saw the world in disorder. A lion lifted itself from the ground with powerful wings. And landed in a far away land. He was given two legs like a man. Given the heart of a man symbolizing his benevolent nature. Known as Uncle Sam around the world. Because erasing human suffering at home, or abroad is what the world came to expect and experienced from the United States.
The United States escaped the tyranny of Great Britain, so it’s her genesis to oppose tyrannical empires wherever, and whenever their ugliness manifests itself. As a fighting machine, like no other, in the history of warfare.
Footnotes, Genesis 48:1-4; 8-20; Daniel 7:4, “…. and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a man’s heart was given to him.”
And tagged, as Uncle Sam representing American global benevolence. The everlasting legacy of the nations veterans, who have earned a respectful salute from a grateful world community.
