religion a human made thing of nonsense

“Faith is believing what you know ain’t so,” and if Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be – a Christian,” so said Mark Twain. Why would Twain make such a statement of rebuke? Your rational is as good as mine, here’s mine. Christian’s stick their noses in the affairs of secularism where it doesn’t belong. Two brief examples. This padre declares it’s difficult to be a Christian and support the presidency of Donald Trump. Whose attitude and behaviors are everything but Christian. That is said because certain elements within Christendom asserted that Trump owns his presidency as a result of their support. Unfortunately, there is more truth than fiction to their claim. They voted for Trump because his political agenda served their perspectives for what society should look like. Which fits nicely into Twainism.

Next, the hot button issue of abortion. From this padre’s perspective such procedures should be between a woman and her Creator. And, the aforementioned element believes Trump will make it otherwise. Namely with the elevation of Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court justice.

We live in a democratic republic where such issues are a matter of choice. Christendom should should be about the collective business of Christ. Which is to bring people into His family, and when that is done attitudes and behaviors change. This padre knows that to be statement of reality from experience. Note: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; old things pass away; BEHOLD, all things become new.” See 2 Corinthians 5:17

And, the aforementioned element which is evangelical Protestantism, especially Pentecostalism, is where those shoes shoes should be worn, and by so doing they would help reverse Twainism.

“Now to Him, who is able to keep you from stumbling. And, to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. To God our Savior, who only is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever.” See Jude 24-25.
