Yes, from what I hear the Bible is a book of riddles and puzzles for many. Many are unable to make the connections between indirect statements. By taking them as precise pictures, and putting them in there connecting place on the puzzle table. Making the Bible an understandable and comprehensible book. One riddle standing alone sometimes offers no clarity in itself. Clarity comes when each riddle is connected to the overall picture presented in God’s word.
Here are some riddles, a phrase requiring some thinking, spiced with some commentary. They will be set apart when necessary from the Bible by the use of the curved symbols (commentary within) for the purpose of connecting those riddles to the puzzles of the Word of God.
“Blessed are the people who walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the in the ways of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful,” Psalms 1:1. (Simply put do not allow your government to determine for you right from wrong. Governments are ungodly and their ways are scornful to God with consequences). Joel 3:2, connects this riddle to the larger puzzle. “I will gather all nations, and will bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and will judge them there for My people (the elects sake, those in Christ) and My heritage Israel, (God’s first love) whom the nations have scattered among the nations and divided My lands.” (All of Palestine belongs to Israel, and it is our Christian duty to stand with Israel against the Arab Muslim world). Joel 3:2 is riddled and puzzled with Matthew 24:22. (The most horrific time in world history when humanity has brought itself to the point of annihilation. Because of the governments hate for the elect. Referring to Christians and Israel). And Matthew 24:22 is a part of Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb (a masterful riddle) and by the word of their testimony; (another masterful riddle) and they loved not their lives unto the death.” (That experience is foreign to much of Christendom today, but not Christians in Arab Muslim lands).
That could be one reason, among many, as to why God is angry with His church, note Revelation 3:15-17. Which are the most dreadful words to be pronounced upon believers in Christ at this juncture in history. The world is as it is because of our failures. Now note our condemnation, “I know your works. You are neither cold or hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So, then because you are lukewarm and neither cold or hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, I am have become wealthy, and have need of nothing. Do you not know that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” (Which most likely is the reason the Bible is a book of riddles and puzzles for many.) And the riddles of Revelation 3:15-17 is connected to Revelation 22:12. “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with me, to give to everyone according to their work.”
Which returns us to the God of mercy, who time and time again allows us to return to our destiny. “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous, and repent. To them who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne. As I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Those that have an ear, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches,” Revelation 3:19;21;22.
This then is the path for individual and national prosperity. “Delight in the law of the LORD. In His law be sure to meditate all the time. They shall be like a tree planted by the water that brings forth fruit in its season. Its leaf shall not wither. Whatsoever they do shall prosper,” Psalms 1:2. That was the way of the United States for a very long time. A people and whose nation knew and experienced the riddles of Genesis 49:22-26. Because if you know your Bible, then you know that Joseph is the historical record of America. There we learn that being prosperous is about spiritual depth in ones life (By the hand of the mighty God of Jacob, who then made those verses an American experience. At best, apart from God, temporal wealth is about happenstance which creates more hardships than that wealth is worth. But the converse of wealth from God makes hardships disappear. America has traveled the converse road for a long time but now has departed from that journey. And now her wealth is becoming one of misery and hardship. The archers shoot and the United States experiences multiple infrastructural wounds. Because his bow is weak, and his arms and hands are weak and getting weaker. Because the mighty God of Jacob is no longer the nations desired Shepherd. The very stone that makes wealth possible from the spiritual and mundane perspectives. There you have a complex riddle for puzzle of wealth.
In the end, this is how God sees the community of nations, “Behold the nations are like a drop in the bucket. And are counted as the small dust upon the weighing scales. He considers them to be as islands and not very important,” Isaiah 40:15.
Psalms 1:4-6 contains the riddles of a people within a nation who decide to depart from God’s protection. Which seems to be the path America is taking. “The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
The phrase, “The ungodly shall not stand in judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.” That little riddle is associated with part of the great completion of God’s puzzle in Revelation 22:12 noted above. They are still resting in their graves. Awaiting a future time as mentioned in Daniel 12:2-3. “And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament. And those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.” Which as a riddle connects to Revelation 20:12, “And I saw the dead, small and great, (ordinary people and world figures like Presidents, Prime Ministers, Popes, Rabbi’s, Ministers, Muslim clerics, CEO’s and the like) standing before God, and the books were opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works.” With verse 15 telling us of the consequences of that judgment. Which is eternal banishment from God, as they were dispatched to the lake of fire. This is the second death according to verse 14. (Meaning they do not suffer eternally but are in a state of eternal unawareness similar to the first death).
There we have a few riddles and obscure phrases tucked into a part of scripture. But when assembled together, as a more completed puzzle, humanities ultimate destiny becomes understandable.
