The sower who produced what it means for tomorrow

Jesus knew something about work, as there never seemed to be enough hours in his day to accomplish His agenda. Maybe exhausted, so on a particular day, he sought solitude by the sea.

It didn’t work out because as usual, lots of people gathered to see him. So He got into a boat and sat down and the people stood on the shore waiting to hear what He had to say. He was a crowd favorite because He was a man of opinions. He often did the unexpected. Like berating religious and political figures. Chasing profiteers out of the house of God. Or by taking a few fish and several loafs of bread and feeding hundreds. And on occasions, He would return to heal people who were sick or crippled. Even demons feared Him, as He liberated people under their control. His compadre the apostle John said  this about his friend, “And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” Amen. (scriptural text:John 21:25).

On this day, as the crowd stood on shore, Jesus resorted to story telling. Saying, “Behold a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.

Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and chocked them.

But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop. Some a hundred fold, some sixty, some thirty.” Mark 4:1-8).

We know from the previous discussion that our responsibility is to evangelize the world. Our efforts are not directed at politicians at any level of American governance. But rather at the electorate, because once the people become born again Christians, they will see that Christ fearing people hold elective office. And legislate and govern according our Judeo-Christian beliefs which are rooted in our scriptures.

Jesus drops at the doorstep of His church four scenarios, as you and I, sow our seeds of evangelism. It seems three out of four are not  receptive to our message. Which is, you must be born again or you to will like wise perish. Then we discover that the twenty five percent who become new creations; whereby, old things have passed away. Beholding that all things have become new. (scriptural text:2 Corinthians 5:17). Not all bore fruit worthy of their repentance which the scriptures command. (scriptural text:Matthew 3:8).

In a complex and mysterious way those whose sowed seed yielded a crop (converts) that sprang up and (they) increased  and became the next generation of evangelists. However the vast majority of people bore no fruit worthy of their salvation. And now you know why the United States, and the world is in such a mess. Making it necessary for the few to step up their evangelistic efforts. In order to return America to its once solid foundation, as a God fearing and honoring nation. And God reciprocated by making the United States prosperous and militarily unbeatable. It was called American exceptionalism! An expression hated because it suggested God directed the nations ways to be the envy of the world. And it was so!

Jesus concluded His discussion with those who stood at the sea shore to hear what He had to say. Saying this, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (scriptural text:Mark 4:9). Though directed to those people at the sea shore, it is very much a discussion meant for us today. Because our scriptures are the living, breathing word of God. And confirmed by Revelation 19:13, He (Jesus) was clothed with a vesture (body) dipped in blood, and His name is called the Word of God. And we need to hear what the scriptures are saying.

It seems that God has raised up two presidential candidates, Dr. Ben Carson and Senator Ted Cruz, who name Jesus as their Savior. Having experienced the Christ changing influences in their lives. Thus making them the presidential leaders America needs at this crucial time. It would be an act of God, if one was elected president and the other became vice president.
