At this season, His wish, though simple could be costly. So simple that it’s wrapped in two words. Follow me, as recorded in Matthew 4:19. And those, who responded to that first call set off a revolution that changed the world. The early change was magnificent. It was meant to be a united catholic church with catholic meaning universal. But unfortunately becoming, the Roman Catholic Church, with its pontiffs becoming the brutal enemy of Jesus, who said, “Upon this rock I will build My church.”
But as time progressed this new catholic movement became very oppressive. Becoming indistinguishable from the evils it sought to destroy. Then a reformation took place and protestantism was born. It hasn’t fared much better becoming, so splintered with isms, so numerous that they out number the stars in God’s sky. And in some incidences their evils are indistinguishable, from the evils they were born to eradicate. No doubt the state of the church today gives Jesus little cause for merry making celebrations. But that could change, if God in His mercy gave us another chance. A chance to bear fruits worthy of our repentance.
So, if Jesus Christ had a street address today in your town U.S.A. Would He not expect His church to accept His wish, “Follow me?” And then, if His followers live their lives in accordance with the New Testament account of His life. Another reformation would be born. After all His church through His leadership has done it more than once. Then His church, like Jesus Himself, would be no friend of the government or the splintered religious hierarchy down the street and around the corner from where you live.
Two thousand years ago the religious authorities found Christ to be a threat to their doctrines. The governmental authorities found Him to be a revolutionary. Therefore, a threat to governmental stability which could result in the overthrow of their government. By today’s rhetorical noise, that would have earned Him and His followers the terrorist label. The solution then was to kill Him, as it would most likely be today. Extinguish His followers by taking away their tax exempt status. What would the modern church do, if it had to rough it in the wild?
Surely the Christ of Bethlehem would want His church to be be a menace to the government directing its change. Because the trump government is a machine for incompetence, and economic injustice. After all, how can they explain, why a nation centuries old has an immigration problem? Answer! Because corporate conglomerates lured immigrants into low paying and oppressive working conditions. And the government looked the other way. Giving life to corporate greed at the expense of American citizens. And now the government wants to punish the American people because they created the so called fiscal cliff. Which really is the fiscal cliff of governmental incompetency. How else can a debt approaching 22 trillion dollars be explained?
The solution is for, we the people, in and through Jesus, must get angry at three corrupt forces in America. Which are the politicians, apostate Christianity and greedy oppressive corporate conglomerates by throwing them out of their respective concrete castles. Labeling them for what they are, the great fornicators causing many to stumble. Suddenly, another angle appeared, saying, “Babylon is fallen that great city because she has made all the nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” See Revelation 14:8.
Today the American government, apostate Christianity and corporate conglomerates speak as one voice. They are on the verge of being the perfect replica of that great city whose intoxicating wine will destroy many more. The United States is modern day Babylon! There is no hope for a reprieve unless people accept the call of Christ, “Follow Me,” by remaking their world. It could become a remarkable achievement for the honor and glory of Jesus Christ.
Two thousand years later millions call themselves Christians. Many faithfully exercise the symbolism of the Christ opposition to the religious, governmental authorities and corporate thugs. This is done through ritualistic remembrances as they travel through the church calendar for the year. It should be done as a reminder of the Christ purpose and mission. It must be more than just ritualistic remembrances. Somehow many devout Christians, seem to have fallen asleep. They must be awakened and called into service to alter the path of this nation. There is a great need to silence the power of apostate evangelical fundamental Protestantism. With a focus upon Pentecostalism and its alignment with the Trump government. It’s thought that they propelled clown Trump into the people’s house.
Our national constitution calls for a separation of church and state. There intent was to keep the government out of the church. Not the church out of the government. Perhaps the founders knew that the two could not co-exist as one entity. Because one would corrupt the other, rendering both useless and ineffective. The church and the state have nothing in common. The state is all about control of the population for its own purposes. Which has led to that cliff hanger hoping to find a way to continue. Which is what political discussions are really about. Whenever Trump, and colleagues confer over state issues. And Trump decides, that they are not Trump enough he shakes up his administration. Different equation same answer!
We are suppose to have three co-equal branches of government. That was the beauty of our constitution. The governments co-equal partners who got their authority from the people. That coexistence is gone, and has been replaced by the authority of one, Donald Trump. We the people better wake up and reclaim our responsibility. Or we’ll experience the cloning of Russian president Putin via Donald Trump.
Christians must rebuke the dictatorial aspirations of Donald Trump. Christians get their authority through the example of Jesus Christ. A reading of the gospels clearly portrays Christ, as the person, who challenged the governmental authorities of His day. We Christians should follow his example. Even if it means being labeled a terrorist. For Christ said, Those who do not take upon themselves the cause of the cross. By following me, are not worthy of me, Matthew 10:38.
For the most part, Christians aren’t recognizable as an institution that mirrors the Christ example. If America is going to be spared, from even greater hardships, just around the corner. Christians must become revitalized and respond to His command, “Follow Me!”
