“I returned, and saw, under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happened to them all,” Ecclesiastes 9:11.
It does seem that time and chance plays a significant role in many events. How many among us mere mortals can not attest to that as reality. Wishing that maybe it didn’t, then perhaps a catastrophe could have been avoided. And sometimes, something simple, like a traffic ticket. Just think maybe a departure a minute or two, either side of the clock could have been a blanket against time and chance.
No doubt that time and chance plays a significant role in our lives but not in all incidences. Here is an occasion, when time a chance plays no role whatsoever. “Therefore, if any person is in Christ, they become new creations; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new,” 2 Corinthians 5:17.
And here is why time and chance do not play a role in all circumstances. “So shall My word be that goes out of my mouth; it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it,” Isaiah 55:11.
Then this is how the unexplainable is explained. Jesus used this example, “The wind blows were it wills. And you hear the sound of it, but can not tell where it came from, and where it goes; so is every person that is born of the spirit,” John 3:8. Meaning that the unexplainable is sometimes explained only from personal experience. And often, is the case that experience is mysterious even to the recipient of that experience. It often has something to do with this rather obscure phrase, “And from the seven Spirits, who are before His throne.” A phrase which is repeated seven times in Revelation chapters two and three. Making it clear that those Spirits serve the interest of God Almighty, who mysteriously assigns them to intervene in our affairs. Additional insight is provided from this recording in Revelation 1:12-13, “… I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands, One like unto the Son of Man ….” With the mystery unfolding before us in Revelation 1:20, The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.”
Brief commentary: It’s all about the supernatural, who at the command of Divine Providence intervene angelically in the affairs of His Lampsatndsl, His churches, you and me.
Note the seven commands and promises and the switch to promises and commands. Jesus commanded, They who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Lampstands. They who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life which is in the midst of the Paradise of God. (cp Revelation 2:7).
The persecuted Lampstands:They who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Lampstands. They that overcome shall not be hurt by the second death. (cp Revelation 2:11).
They who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Lampstands. To them who overcome, I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it. (cp Revelation 2:17).
The incorrupt Lampstands:They who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to them I will give power over the nations. They shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed like potter’s vessels. As I have received from My Father; and I will give them the morning star. They who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Lampstands. (cp Revelation 2:26-29).
Lampstands of overcomer’s:They that overcome shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out their name form the Book of Life; but will confess their names before My Father and before His angels. They who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying unto the Lampstands. (cp Revelation 3:5-6).
The Faithful Lampstand:Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world to test those who dwell on the earth. They who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Lampstands. (cp Revelation 3:10;13).
Lampstands of hope in the midst of indifference:To them that overcome, I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne. They who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Lampstnds. (Revelation 3:21-22).
