Previously it was discovered that in the heavens there were seven spirits with very strange characteristics, who were Gods. Who had the authority to visit earth. So, at the appropriate time they made an exit to message Sarah. But those three Gods, also interacted with Abraham and with a God. Which also meant that God Himself would also periodically visit the planet He had created. Also previously, it was discovered that there was a hierarchy among the Gods. Meaning there was one Elohim and many lesser Gods.
Daniel gives us an additional view of His throne room. Apart from the one we looked at the other day. While Job provides us with an authoritative clairvoyant picture of Elohim’s ownership of all that is in the heavens or on earth. Establishing that no one is adequately up to the task of a successful revolt.
But for now this scene unfolds, “I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire; a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; ten thousand time ten thousands stood before Him. THE COURT WAS SEATED and the books were opened. I watched because of the sound of the pompous horn who was speaking. (Who is that pompous horn? John told us in a previous discussion that that horn was one of the seven Spirits of God, who visited earth. See Revelation 5:6). I watched till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed and given to the burning flame. As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.” For Daniels experience see, Daniel 7:9-12.
That’s enough for that segment might deal with those beasts with a later discussion. Other than to say that they represent a rather frequent disturbance in the heavens. It’s not cozy resting place for the dearly departed by any stretch of the imagination.
Time to take a look at power and authority looks like. “Where were you, when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, when the MORNING STARS sang together, and all the SONS OF GOD shouted for joy? Or who shut in the sea with doors, when it burst forth from the womb? When I made the clouds, and the thick darkness of its swaddling band; when I fixed My limit for it with set bars and doors?” When I said, “This far as you may come, but no farther. And here your proud waves must stop! Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place; that it might take hold of the ends of the earth? See Job 38:4-13a.
