For the most part, what people receive through the various mediums from places called churches beware. Apart from a few of them, they are entrepreneurs. They sell bundles of religious concepts packaged in deception. Apparently, people are wising up because church attendance is at an all time low. When it should be at an all time high, because of the screwed up times we live in, and, as a result our growing population.
And that is of great concern to this writer, as a clergy person. Because, having had a personal experience with Christ it is a life transforming experience.
It indeed was a personal experience of mine decades ago, so that’s why I can make such a statement. However, it occurred during a time, when I was embarking on a career anything but Christian.
Someone had placed conspicuously a booklet containing the gospel of John. Later, I read a book written by the late evangelist Billy Graham. I went to my knees, confessed my sins, and accepted Jesus as my Savior. That experience of mine is contained in, Romans 10:9-10. At that time, I had absolutely no association with organized religion.
That experience was such a transformable experience that I purchased a Bible. I was determined to discover, how my life was miraculously transformed. It took some time, but finally, I came across these words, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things pass away; behold, all things have become new.” (cp. 2 Corinthians 5:17). Bingo I had my answer!
Now I had to change my career path. Recall at the time of my acceptance of Christ, I had no church affiliation. So after years of preparing for the ministry, I was ordained.
My traditional church experience was short lived. I scheduled a breakfast meeting with a bishop associate of mine. I announced that I was leaving the church. He didn’t seem surprised more like he expect it. He just replied, I got just the perfect assignment for you, which was within the inner city ghetto of Philadelphia, Pa. There I found one of my passions helping the needy. Absent the falsehoods of Christendom.
All that was shared that readers might gain trust in what I share with these discussions. Because a life with Christ is vital because someday everyone will give an account of themselves, as they stand before Him. It goes like this, “Then I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heavens fled away. And there was found no place for them.
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God. And books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead, who were in them. And they were judged, each according to their works.
Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” (cp. Revelation 20:11-15).
Nothing shared is trivial or for personal gain or profit. All that is written is urgent because the world we live in is dangerous with no hope of it getting better. No matter what the church or politicians assert. There will be no return to the good old days. What appears good from appearance is a charade of deception, Designed to keep people from realizing the seriousness of what lies ahead.
