“Blessed is the person, who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But their delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law, they mediate day and night. And they shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever they do shall prosper,” Psalms 1:1-3.
Three short verses, packed with difficulty for the serious practitioners of the godly life. Because our modern world is not conducive for such lifestyles. So what do we do? Turn our backs from what God says will bring prosperity? NO! We all have to work at the execution for what God says will work. Real work combined with sincere effort will bring about amazing results. But not over night for most!
“Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shall you labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work,” Exodus 20:8-10a.
The sabbath begins this Friday evening at 8:26 PM and ends Saturday at 8:25 PM. No where in the scriptures, Old or New Testament have we been excused from observing the sabbath. Sunday the Lord’s day is not the sabbath. How do you think that change occurred? Through the beast (religious political monster) of Revelation thirteen. This beast has dealt the church serious setbacks in the past. With most of Christendom disregarding its observation. And this beast is not through yet, its final assaults are yet to materialize. Perhaps, I’ll elaborate more on this religious political monster in the future.
But for now, I’ll leave these thoughts concerning the sabbath. “If you turn away your foot from the sabbath, from doing your pleasures on my holy day, and shall call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable, and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your pleasure, nor speaking your own words. Then shalt thou delight yourself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob, thy father; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it,” Isaiah 58:13-14.
The Phrase, “I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob.” Which is God’s reward for calling the sabbath a ‘delight’ the holy of the LORD honorable.
This padre anticipates observing the sabbath. A time for rest (frequent naps) worship and praise done in solitude and accompanied with the abstinence of food but not water. Fasting is not a requirement for observing the sabbath. At the end of the sabbath rest, carrying well over into the following day. A euphoric sense of exhilaration is manifested through my entire being. Or, “that ride on the high places of the earth.”
Because Isaiah references the heritage of Jacob, some think that the aforementioned verses apply only to Jews. WRONG! Because we (U.S.) trace our lineage back to Jacob, who had a son named Joseph. Joseph then had a son named Manasseh from whose seed gave birth to America. The heritage of Jacob was a promised land of milk and honey. The two century old American experience but now in a state of fast decline. However that is the biblical history all nations have and will encounter. But through these collapsing community of nations, God has always provided for those who have honored his precepts. With this posting having touched upon two of them through the Psalms and Isaiah.
There you have it folks, how to prosper in a world of diminishing prosperity. Don’t equate prosperity in terms of the wealth from gold and silver. Think in terms of esoteric spirituality because the gold and silver could be in substances least desired but most important.
