The chatter was all about the free market with the mysterious hand of God guiding the nation to economic prosperity. Shadowed and protected by the light of the world, Jesus Christ. Who was often pictured as the light in the harbor, signaling the route to safety.

Which actually has a biblical bases, found in Genesis 49:22-24. Where we discover these words, “Joseph is a fruitful bough by a well, whose branches run over a wall. The archers (enemies Israel/U.S.) have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him (Nazism, Islam). But his bow abode in strength and the arms of his hands made strong by the mighty God of Jacob. From there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel,” The United States is an extension of Israel.

Personal, and global prosperity evolves around a people and their nation, whose dependence is upon the God of Jacob or Israel. The very ancestry of Jesus Christ is traced back to the very God of Jacob. And from Christ forward, to our very times. Where Jesus spoke saying, “I am the light of the world; they that follow me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life,” John 8:12. With the emphasis upon the phrase, “but shall have the light of life.” Perhaps no people in humanities long history has placed a greater dependence upon the God of Jacob and Jesus Christ. Then the American people and the government of the United States. But that reliance is fast slipping into the annuals of the abyss of darkness, where the teachings of the God of Jacob, and Jesus Christ are being ignored. Resulting with God’s light of life flickering off and on. The light of God is what results in personal and national prosperity. When that light stays off, then the people and the national government will really experience economic ruination.

Let the naysayer laugh and mock because God will have the last laugh of mockery. It’s recorded in the Psalms. With these words, “He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; and the Lord shall have them in derision,” Psalms 2:4. Will America reclaim her godly light?  And be returned to the vines of prosperity nourished by the deep wells of God’s eternal water. I think not!

The God of Jacob said that it would be through his church which would radiate the required light, Note Revelation 1:20, the mystery of the 7 stars and the 7 golden lampstands. Then we find these words in Revelation 2:5, “Remember, therefore, from where you have fallen, and repent, and do your first works, or else I will come unto you quickly, and remove your lampstand out of its place, except you repent.” So the world’s destiny is in the hands of the church.

And if the people within the land of plenty are seeing the plenty disappear, it’s because the lampstand has been removed from its place. THE KEY: Through individual and national repentance, and perhaps God will once again will replace our lampstand in its rightful place. And, with it a return to the land of plenty.
